Beschreibung
Context-aware mobile computing is the ubiquitous paradigm in which mobile device take advantage of surrounding context (such as location, social situation, activity of user) to adapt its behavior. In the last decade, information available on the Internet has increased tremendously. Therefore it is no longer sufficient to information retrieval systems just to present the documents in an ordered list for the users' information need. It is desirable to rank those documents higher, which the user is looking for. The users' surrounding context can help the information retrieval system to improve precision by considering these contextual information as relevance feedback and involving them into
the ranking process. The proposed mobile context-aware information retrieval system identifies context and preferences of individual users and ranks the documents based on their information needs and the context information. In other words, the system changes the rank of documents based on the user's surrounding context.
The designed prototype system tried to identify scenarios whereby the results of the users' information needs are presented via notifications. Such interaction would especially be helpful when the users' surrounding situations are intermittently changing and his information need is actively or passively associated with these situations.
